For Parents

SWAP-TV is a fun, fast-paced documentary series (each program is 1/2 hour) currently airing on TVOntario, Access, Knowledge and SCN. Kids aged 10-14 years old experience the fun and challenges associated with swapping lives with another kid for an entire weekend. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

SWAP-TV is produced by Breakthrough Films and Television: we are a Toronto based television production company with a solid reputation for producing popular and relevant television programs. To find out more about us please click here.

We are proud of our reputation for producing socially conscious documentary series that highlight family issues. Three other television series we produce, namely Little Miracles, Family Dance and Mothers and Daughters deal with sensitive family issues in a compassionate manner.

Like those series, SWAP-TV is a program that requires the full support and participation of the families involved. We want the children to enjoy new and exciting experiences, but at the same time ensure that every possible precaution is taken to protect them. To that end, we have implemented the following safety procedures:

  1. Every activity planned will be carefully outlined in a release form for the parents' approval.
  2. The children will only participate in the activities agreed to on the release form.
  3. Every child will have the opportunity to refuse to participate in any planned activity
  4. Experienced instructors and safety equipment will be used wherever appropriate or necessary to ensure the child's safety.
  5. Chaperones will be provided and will be with the child at all times during production.
  6. Whenever possible, the child will be returned to their own home at the end of day.
  7. When overnight stays are required, SWAP-TV will provide an adult chaperone to stay with swappers.
